Clear Lake Gem & Mineral Society Annual Gem Show
From Lunar Moon Rocks to Pre-historic fossils the Pasadena Convention Center was a geological dream. The Clear Lake Gem & Mineral Society Annual Gem Show shared the beauty of earth and beyond to a vast audience of all ages this March. With something for everyone to enjoy it's easy to see why this show has been going strong for 40 years. Displays and activities combined with an abundance of gem vendors gave families an up close look at the alluring charm of Earth's natural creations.

Founded 1974 in the Clear Lake Area of Houston, Texas the Clear Lake Gem & Mineral Society is a member of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies & the South Central Federation of Mineral Societies with a mission to promote education and popular interest in the various earth sciences; in particular in those hobbies dealing with art of lapidaries and the science of minerals, fossils and their associated fields.
A CLGMS Member explains, "Besides our monthly meetings at which special programs on the Earth Sciences are presented, there are many activities that involve CLGMS members. We maintain an active role in helping the community by supplying books and periodicals that deal with Earth Science related matter to local libraries and schools. On request, members will give lectures and talks on Geology, Mineralogy, Faceting, Cabochon making and other related material. Always active, the club takes periodic field trips to collecting sites for rocks, minerals, and fossils. The CLGMS also helps our young people by awarding two $1,000 scholarships each year to worthy college students working in the field of Mineral Sciences".
