The citizens of Munich may have Oktoberfest, but the real party was with the furry four legged friends of Clear Lake Shores, Texas and their Barktoberfest. Doggies and kitties alike benefited from this fun filled day of sunshine and events with the proceeds going to The Bay Area Pet Adoptions, a non-profit pet rescue and adoption organization that relies on donations from events like this to help care for local dogs and cats in need.

The day started with beautiful weather as dogs and their two legged human companions’ enjoyed a tranquil two mile walk around Clear Lake Shores in the “Walk-your-Dog” a-Thon followed by events designed just for those K-9 starlets. Spectators were graced with Pet Competitions such as Best Tricks, Best Costume, Best in Show and always a crowd favorite the Dog and Parent Look Alike contest. But the activities and fun didn't stop there, a police dog training session and fly ball demo by K9 Kommotion amused onlookers with their spectacular skills and abilities.

Along with all these fun filled activities there was also on hand a Pet Caricaturist, a Pet Photographer (to capture that perfect doggie selfie) and the world class people & pet psychic Petrene Soames, for those wanting to have a closer connection with their slobbering sole mate Fido. Then there was the most important event of all, "The Parade of Adoptable Dogs", because of course this is what it was all about, a chance for one of these delightful doggies to find a lifelong friend and new home.

A large selection of the pleasantly plump veggies are available for the  picking along with fun photo opportunities spread throughout the patch for family and friends. With their countless variety of shapes and sizes to choose from you just might find yourself saying,
"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown".

University of Houston Fall 2014 Open House

Sunshine and Campus Tours

The University of Houston-Clear Lake held it's 2014 Fall Open House today and you couldn't have asked for a better day, bright sunshine paired with a cool breeze made for a perfect tour around the campus. The University held workshops every 30 minutes on topics such as Financial Aid, Scholarships, Student Programs, Student Life, Admissions Requirements and more. The Financial Aid Department was there to help students with questions about scholarships and financial assistance as well as a full staff of  Faculty and Academic Advisors ready to guide future students through the schools programs and their requirements needed for success. Future Hawks also had an opportunity to browse the Student Life groups and the campus's Student Services, representatives from offices such as Career Services, Health & Disability, Veteran's Services, Writing and Math Centers were all there eager and ready to provide any information needed. Besides the campus tours and abundance of campus information available, it was a fun family outing as well. Family and friends were welcome with open Wings to get their groove on with Hunter the Hawk and the live DJ or take part in the face painting booth and enjoy snacks like popcorn, cotton candy, fresh beverages, pastries and more all offered by faculty and student life organizations.

TWWP CLUB ANNOUNCES FALL WATER POLO SEASON

After winning both Boys & Girls 16 & Under Jalapeno Summer League Water Polo Championships, the TWWP Club announces the upcoming Fall Water Polo Season schedule for both Junior and High School level athletes.

The Fall Season runs September 2 through December 14 with Tuesday & Thursday training sessions 5:30PM – 7:30PM at Clear Creek High School Pool, 2305 East Main Street, League City, TX  77573.

  Our Fall Season tournament schedule is pending the high school swim team schedules and will be announced as soon as possible.

TWWP Club welcomes athletes of all skill levels ages 8 – 18 who are proficient swimmers to come visit any of our training sessions.  Fall Season registration and payment can be made at the first training session on September 2 at Clear Creek High School Pool.  

Family fees for the new season are $225.00 per athlete for 1^st athlete, $200.00 for 2^nd athlete and 3^rd athlete is free.

"The Rise of Independence"

Clear skies and a temperature that was comfortable for everyone, you couldn't ask for a better day for the lifting of the Space Shuttle Replica “Independence”. Spectators from all around crowded among each other with their cameras, tablets, and cell phones alike to capture a moment in history while “Independence” was being moved onto its final resting place atop the mammoth Boeing 747. Space Center Houston’s soon to be attraction will be like no other in the world, drawing visitors international as well as locally.  Space Center Houston says, “The SCA and Shuttle Attraction will be an unprecedented, international landmark exhibit that will open in 2015, stand over eight stories tall and feature interactive exhibits for the public to explore. Visitors will be able to enter both vehicles, mounted in the classic carry configuration – an experience unavailable anywhere else in the world. The experiential exhibit will feature the remarkable history of the shuttle program and its role in shaping current NASA initiatives to explore asteroids, the moon, Mars and beyond”.

Boeing 747 SCA gets new home in Houston

  Crawling at the speed of a person walking, 3 miles per hour. 

    "The Iron Giant inches it's way to it's new home" says one of the many on looking spectators.

   The Boeing 747 SCA and space shuttle replica Independence will be joined to become an international landmark, opening in 2015. The attraction will stand over eight stories tall and feature interactive educational exhibits inside the shuttle and jumbo jet. Visitors will enter the shuttle while it is mounted in the ferry configuration over 60 feet off the ground – an experience unique in the world. The exhibit will explore the remarkable history of the shuttle program and how it is shaping current NASA initiatives to explore asteroids, the moon, Mars and beyond.
